As of 2.6.15.1, the code is officially part of the kernel. Kudos to David Miller for converting the code to suit 2.6.x.

Sparcstation LED patch
This patch allows the user to control the front LED on Sparcstations via /proc/led. The LED can be turned on, off, toggled, made blink at a user-defined interval or according to system load. Patched against the 2.4.30 kernel tree. Beware though, this is beta software at best.
This patch was inspired by
NetBSD and
OpenBSD's capability to make the LED blink according to the system load. I saw no reason why linux should lack this feature.
